Want to create your own custom bookmarks? Create your own business cards? How about preventing frequently used from getting worn down? A thermal laminator can do all of these things, and Scotch have release the TL901, a budget laminator that works great for all your home needs.
Thermal Laminator Features
The laminator works by sealing laminating pouches around any sheets of paper or card that you insert into the double roller design. Unlike older models of laminators you may have used 5 years ago, this modern laminator is silent, does not emit a lot of heat, and modern laminators don’t product that awful smell anymore while in use. Using this laminator you could, for example, print off multiple business cards on one sheet, laminate them, and then cut them out to produce individual cards. This works out lot cheaper than getting them custom made in a print shop, and it is one of the more common uses for the unit.

Paper / Card Size
The Scotch Thermal Laminator can laminate photos and pouches that are up to 5mm thick, and nine inches across. There are two heat settings on the unit – one for 3mm thickness, and one for 5mm – these are designed to match up with the most common kinds of laminating pouches available. One tip – if you are going to be buying a lot of thermal pouches make sure that you buy them online (Amazon does them cheap), since you can get them for almost half the price they would cost in a store.
Dependable Operation
This thermal laminator does not tend to jam, even under heavy use (put 100 cards in a row through it and it should still work ok). If there is one downside to the unit it is that the feed tray is a little bit too lightweight for repeated use, but that’s ok since you will tend to use the manual feed in any case. It does work ok, but it is a little bit on the flimsy side. Apart from this the Scotch TL901 works excellently, proving why it is one of the best selling thermal laminators on the market.
Overall
If you are looking for the best possible laminator for use in the home or for small jobs then the TL901 fits the bill. It’s a tough little bit of kit, and its performance is excellent for the price. If you are looking to laminate 1000’s of sheets continuously in a row look elsewhere, but if you are after the best thermal laminator in the budget price range then look no further than the Scotch.
