A Solid Improvement On the Original That Does Not Cost A Bomb

The SOG tomahawk is an updated version of a weapon that was originally used in the Vietnam War, when soldiers quickly discovered that a conventional knife could not quite cut it as a hand to hand weapon.

This new model seeks to address the issues that the original issues had, and the result is a hybrid weapon / tool that is useful in combat as well as having good secondary uses as a dependable tool for the average joe.

What’s Changed?

The old version had its flaws, notably the wooden handle that could easily break. The new version features a reinforced nylon/fiberglass handle that has a rubberized grip, and while not indestructible, it is certainly an improvement. Make no mistake, this is mainly targeted at soldiers who need a solid weapon, but it just so happens that its various features make it a great tool as well.

Features

The blade on the Fusion tactical tomahawk is as you would expect – extremely sharp.  The axe also makes for a useful hammer with a textured impact surface built into the side of the head so that swings can be easily judged. Finally the rear of the head has a spike that balances the weight of the axe head, and this can be used for breaking ice, glass, and so on. It is a great tool to have for breach situations such as breaking windows and clearing the glass from the frame.

Camping Use

Of course, not everyone who buys a tomahawk is in the military. The tool also attracts a lot of customers who are looking for a useful tool that can be used for a multitude of tasks while camping, hiking, chopping wood, cutting bushes, and so on. It has so many uses that it is impossible to list here. Go and read the reviews on the SOG tomahawk if you want to read the many ways that people have been utilizing it.

Overall

While you can get more solid weapons such as a full blown cold-steel axe, bear in mind that the cost for these alternatives is a lot higher than the SOG tomahawk, and they will also be a lot heavier. If you are looking for a high quality weapon that is great in military use, or a lightweight tool that can be used while hiking, camping, or even used for small jobs around the house, the tomahawk is well worth getting. Remember that it is sharp though, and it is not a toy – this is a serious tool for serious users.
